Central Park keeps New Yorkers sane. Within its 843 acres of man-made greenery are countless hidden gems, attractions, fountains, statues, archways, movie scenes and staples of New York iconography. You may be one of the 35 million people who visit Central Park each year, but how well do you really know it? Put your knowledge to the test and win!

In a race against time and the other teams…

• Decipher the hieroglyphics of Cleopatra’s Needle
• Discover the secrets of Bethesda Fountain and Belvedere Castle
• Seek out hidden statues and facts about notable New Yorkers
• Get enchanted by the Delacorte Music Clock and its haunting tunes
• Visit the boat house and ride the carousel
• Just where is that Ghostbusters building?
• Much much more!

Anything below 96th street is fair game. Each team receives one set of a clues and a map. Get ready for a 2-hour hunt that takes you all over the park to discover fun facts and secrets! Work together to plot your course, get the most answers and outsmart the other teams. We all meet at a bar for ‘grading,’ team ranks, prizes and a party!

Come with your own team of 4 or 5, or we’ll assign you to one.

Please note, the event starts at 1 pm sharp.  If you are late, you will miss the hunt.  It is not possible to join the hunt after it begins.  Do not be late.

On Saturday, March 24th, join us for a Scavenger Hunt through New York’s greatest Art Galleries!

Did you know there are hundreds of art galleries in Chelsea? All year long, new exhibits of all kinds appear, by all sorts of artists (known and unknown). Classical paintings, modern art, funky, strange, bizarre sculptures, installations, photography and more! There’s no end to the interesting and provocative exhibits on display in the Chelsea galleries at any given moment.

Come with your own team of 4 or 5 friends, or make some new ones! In a race against time, and the other teams, you will:

• Search for hidden, obscure and mind-blowingly strange art
• Dig into the fine details of paintings, photographs & sculptures.
• Discover up to 15 different galleries.
• Hunt for fascinating facts and points of interest throughout Chelsea’s Art Gallery district, which runs from 16th street to 28th street, between 10th & 11th Avenues
• Find your way up to the High Line too
• And much more…

Each team gets one set of clues. Work together to plot your course, get the most answers and outsmart the other teams! Be sure to look up, down and all around for the answers – they could be anywhere!

The hunt will lasts 2 hours. Teams meet back at a bar where we ‘grade’ your answers and announce the scores. Prizes are awarded to the winners and everyone mingles!

iPhone & Google. Hopefully someone on your team has an iPhone and the Facebook application. Other smartphones with Facebook apps should work fine too. There are 5 photo questions which you’ll need to upload to The Lunch Club’s Facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/thelunchclub

Please visit our FB page and “Like” it, so that you’ll be able to upload your team pics. You’ll be needing Google to locate galleries.

Otherwise, dress weather appropriate, travel light and come ready to have fun! Please print and bring your ticket with you.

If you’ve been following The Lunch Club for a long time, you may be saying “why is that Jared guy doing only scavenger hunts these days.”  Well, good question.   Short answer:  I like creating them.  They are fun.  People always have a good time, and it’s a valuable experience for participants.  You’re not just mingling in a bar with random strangers, or sitting across the table eating lunch with someone you’ve never met.  That was The Lunch Club for a long time.  Now, there are so many opportunities to meet strangers, out there in Meetup land and elsewhere, that I want to focus on doing unique things that are very specific to The Lunch Club.  These scavenger hunts are working out well.  Also, you can come with your friends, form your own team and have a great time, without the pressure of mingling, if you don’t want to.  Either way, there’s always an after-party, and people always mingle.  It just changes things up a bit, is all.   I’ve also been running scavenger hunts privately for groups and companies that hire us.  The brand we use for that is Secret City.  Check it out if you’re looking for team building activities for your company or group!
