Hi guys! Did you enjoy the solar storm? This note is a bit long but please take
a few minutes and read it! I think you might like it :-)
We've got two great events coming up that I wanna tell you about - and then some
other good stuff that I think you will be interested in. Here are the events:
1) Sunday Brunch & Hangin' Out! We'll be back at Ike this week. Ike is shaping
up to be such a great place for us. We'll probably be there once a month or so.
It's just so good - and I really love those tater tots! So come spend your
Sunday meeting some new friends. Don't be shy! Everyone comes alone and it's
totally cool. So login & RSVP!
2) Wednesday Party - The Autumn Adventures Fundraiser to benefit Inner City
Outings (ICO). ICO is a great volunteer organization that takes underprivileged
children on hiking, canoeing and ice skating trips (among other things) that are
geared toward forging a connection with the environment. I think it's a really
great cause, so we're going to have a party to raise funding for them! It will
be held at Delft on 2nd street & B, this Wednesday, November 5th. Starts at 7
pm, goes to 11:00. It's $20 at the door (with pre-registration - $30 without),
including 1 drink. 100% of the proceeds go to benefiting Inner City Outings so
please come down and support the cause! And be introduced to new friends, like
always! Details are posted in Events so login and RSVP! (there will be no
Monday dinner or Wednesday lunch this week, so come to the party!)
Now the other stuff:
I have been thinking a lot about how to add new things to The Lunch Club that
can really benefit everyone involved. Of course, we are very focused on our
regular gatherings and will always be. But what else could we be as a
community? So many people are connected to each other through The Lunch Club
and hundreds upon hundreds of relationships exist through it. Also, we have
sooo much talent and creative potential right here in our midst. Friendships &
Community are the foundation of The Lunch Club - but what could The Lunch Club
be a foundation for? That?s what I have been pondering. This is what I have
come up with so far: What if people (who desired to do so) combined their
connections, talents and resources and created mutually beneficial situations
for themselves? What if we could help each other, to each other?s gain? But
how can we do this?
If you've had a look at the message board recently, you will see that we've
added some new forums to make things more interesting. There are 2 forums
created specifically with the ?mutual benefit? idea in mind. Here they are:
1) The Work Referral Program ? Everyone has connections of some sort.
What if we can use our connections to help find each other work and receive a
commission for doing so? The Lunch Clubber Work Referral Program allows us to
?hook people up? with work, via our own personal networks and receive a 5%
commission, up to $5000, of the gross earnings on the job. I have used this
tactic to find work many times over the years and it's done well for me. So why
not make it work for everyone? Please go to this link and read all about this
new initiative.

2)The Circle of Endeavors ? This is kinda deep, but here goes ;-)
We meet each other at The Lunch Club over a meal. We get to talking, we keep in
touch, we develop close friendships that are interconnected with other
friendships through the club. But what do we do with our relationships?
Whatever we want to, really. But what if we chose to put them to practical,
economic use?
Some people have ideas. Some people have the ability to carry out ideas. In
order for ideas to become reality, the people who have them must join forces
with the people who can do stuff. When that happens, new endeavors begin. The
Lunch Club Circle of Endeavors is a drive to create new organizational entities
that have a mission & purpose. They could turn into businesses, non profits,
cause-related projects, or anything really. What do YOU want to do? Then, all
these organizations could develop relationships with each other, forming what
amounts to a little economic circle. Hence, a Circle of Endeavors. I wrote a
whole thing about it. I worked hard on it too ;-) So please check it out here:
http://www.thelunchclub.net/index.php?p=endeavors
The Lunch Club, which is its own endeavor, could become a launching pad for all
kinds of new endeavors and initiatives ? whatever we each decide we want from
it. I think these are two great ways for us to all get involved and help each
other out in a very practical manner! Please read the info and start thinking
of your OWN ideas! There might just be other people here who want to make them
happen with you!
Don?t worry ? The Lunch Club is and always will be about friendships and
community. Our regular gatherings will go on and there will never be any
agenda, other than what we create for ourselves when we gather. But now, those
members who wish to go beyond ?hangin? out? and utilize their connections for
practical, economic purposes can do so! This is the beginning of a whole new
thing and I will be talking a lot more about it in the coming months.
For now, check out the new forums and start thinking of ideas for your own
endeavors! Also have a look at the Give & Get Advice forum. We can be each
other's best source of information and council! Good stuff :-)
See you Sunday for brunch and then again on Wednesday for the Autumn Adventures
party! Thanks for reading my whole email!
