I was thinking how changeable the world is and how unpredictable elections are. For example what if a week before the election The Bush Administration announced that they had just captured Osama Bin Laden? Is there any doubt that many people would forget about economics, enviroment, etc. and re-elect Bush?

I hope that Osama is caught but after Bush leaves office.

Someone else was recently toying with that idea...like they have already captured Osama and they are just waiting for the right moment of highest political gain to reveal that. Wouldn't it be interesting???

Hey! Interesting to find your comments on this here...my friends & family in Europe have been telling me that this is exactly what's been suggested in the European media. Just before the elections Osama will be 'captured' (and many think he's already in captivity now) by the newly started round of search for him.

What if they wanted to test something like that, so they announce in the media that the 2nd most wanted is surrounded, and keep it that way long enough to take polls and see the effect.

I don't think terrorism is going to end as soon as we/they capture Osama and Ayman. I think the GOP is naive if they believe that. Whether happens the GOP will spin it anyway they want.
