And you thought it would be good? Please tell me it was Beefaroni. That's the grossest looking maggoty goodness i've ever seen.
I must confess, however, that I have an insatiable weakness for Spaghetti-O
s with Parmesan. But I can't trust Canned meat other than Tuna.

Honestly, it was a bad idea. It was too cold out and I had the munchies and the Chef Boyardee was left over from post 9/11 rations. Act of desperation and I learned my lesson. I have a weakness for chicken strips, however.

If it weren't for Stove Top Stuffing, I would never have gained my freshman 50. Ahhhh nostalgia.

Chef Boyardee and me haven't gotten along since I was six. There was a vomiting incident that I won't discuss here.
My freshman 15 came from rice and beans...it was the only thing I could cook in my hot pot that didn't taste like crap. $.59 for a can of Goya beans, $2 for a big bag of rice, a dash of Sauzon and you're all set!
And then there was the cases of Ramen noodles that you can buy for $2....12 meals for $2!!!! That's a college kid's dream!

Oh wow...all I made in my college hot pot was pasta and sauce. I had about the Freshman 20. To this day I get flashbacks when I smell dish soap mingling with pasta sauce. Crazy.
Sophomore year we had our own bathroom, and we did our dishes in the bathroom sink (no kitchen, just bathroom). So the bathroom always smelled like pasta sauce too!
Vittaroz pasta - 50 cents a pound, baby! (And the Vittaroz tomato sauce is 5 for a dollar.)

I'm going to a pot luck dinner where everyone is vegan or vegetarian and I need a good recipe. Something that can serve as a main dish. Help I'm a carnivore and don't deal well with tofu.

My bf is a vegetarian, so I've quickly learned how to make meals that satisfy both of us...For a pot luck, I suggest a big bowl of rice and beans...it' cheap and easy and tastes yummy...
I buy the Goya black beans (usually 2 for $1 at most supermarkets). I sautee onions and garlic in some olive oil and then add the beans. I usually drain most of the liquid out of the can, but that's a personal preference. I make rice (boil in the bag, usually), and after it's cooked, mix with the beans.
Some of my friends have suggested adding diced tomatoes or salsa to the beans for some extra flavor. I've done that, too. Gives it a little kick.
Good luck at your potluck!

Seriously, the best is to go to epicurious. com or vegetarian times on line, and they have a plethora of fabulous veggie recipes. I'm a pseudo veggie (I can't resist seafood.) Eggplant makes a hearty main part of the dish, as does any member of the squash family.

Any soy based meaty things also bode well with the veggie crowd. I'm a huge fan of vegetarian chili.

Gained Freshman 8 from the all-you-could-eat buffet dining halls at College.
Freaked out & cut out a lot of meat from my diet.
Ate healthier in general, & lost all 8 pounds.
Gained 10 from the free lunches at the dot-com I worked at after college.
Never recovered...
Now trying to rid myself of 15 pounds so I'm back at my college weight.
