Are there any Washington D.C. Members? I'm currently residing in Centreville,VA and I've noticed that there aren't many DC posts or events.

I'm new to D.C. (originally from NYC) and my friend who organized the Boston Chapter recommended this to me. She did heavy marketing with fliers and the event was successful, with the Boston Globe reporting it. I live in Falls Church now, you? How many people are there in D.C. that you've noticed or responded?

I attended the inaugural brunch in Adams Morgan a coupla weeks ago. There were maybe 15 or more people there. I was the oldest at 53; several were new college grads. Quite a nice mix of backgrounds, interests, and so on. So there ARE some people interested in giving birth to a DC group but if you want to see it happen, you probably need to jump in because it is too new to run on its own momentum.

I just joined and I'm really looking forward to meeting new people. I've lived here for a year and I have one friend. I've noticed that DC is not the easiest place to meet new people so I reallly hope to make some friends.

Hi, my name is Bonnie and I am new to the Lunch Club, but always interested in meeting new people and getting out of my apartment. I've lived in DC for awhile now, but people tend to move in and out with frequency. I signed up for the event on 7/27 and am looking forward to meeting people.

I just joined myself. I live in Gaithersburg, MD but I work in DC. Most of the people I know here are from work. I moved here last year with my husband and alas, my friends are scattered to the four winds. It would be nice to actually have a group of folks to hang out with here. Any other Marylanders?

Hi Allison,
Great to meet you.
Nice to meet you too, smallfrie. Apparently the DC activities are just starting to pick up. I guess it was the spots they did on local tv. That's where I heard about it.
Any brave souls going to do the "speed friending" thing? :)

Hi all, I see things are picking up. But unfortunately for me, I work in the evenings (1 to 9:30 pm) during the week. So I will not be able to attend any events during the week. The weekend on the other hand is good for me.

I'll be attending the "Speed Friending" thing. It'll be cool to put a face with names. I'm also another Marylander--Upper Marlboro.

I learned about this from the tv as well. When is the speed friending event? I did not know they had one in the DC area.

I know how you feel! My wife and kids have been out of town for almost a month with the g'parents in FL. I thought I'd do something "exciting" for the 4th and go downtown to check out the "festivities". Either I went to the wrong National Mall, or it was completely lame (except the fireworks). Ended up just walking my feet down to nubs; they're still healing! ;) Thinking about doing the Speedfriending thing, too. Maybe meet some of you there.

Does anyone know if the DC group needs an extra organizer? i've organized for other groups- socially and professionally for a few years now and I might be able to offer a helping hand.
Thanks,

Sure, send an email to Kim, the DC Chapter Organizer - she could definitely use the help:

Hey Everyone,
This is my first time here. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and making new, hopefully lasting friendships. I am in Anne Arundel County so hopefully some of the DC crowd may migrate toward annapolis sometimes.
Anyway just wanted to intro myself.

Live in Northern VA, Lakeridge to be exact. Love the Lunch Club, joined not to long ago, and attended the 7/27 event. Anyone interested in hanging out let me know.
Hey there,
I just thought that I would like to give a little shout out to you all. I'm in Silver Spring, MD. I attended the 7/27 Speed friending thing. I'm always in the market to find things to do. So if anything is going on, hit me up.
