Hi Everyone,
Anyone interested in forming an Pharmaceutical/ Biotechnology Industry Instrest Group?
The mission of this group would include:
1. Discuss ongoings with the pharma industry that reflect group interests.
2. Examine new developments in government/society/technology/Legal that may effect industry practice
**3. Form a professional network where expertise and resources can be shared.
My vision for this group includes highly motivated people who would want to meet either monthly, or bi monthly to further the points highlighted above. We could decide if we would want to a incorporate journal club settings well as roundtable discussions into our monthly or biweekly meetings. We could also discuss the possibity of a group email list were we could communicate our thoughts/ideas/ questions.
Basically this group can be taken to any level. It would be up to all of us to decide where we want to go with it and also we can adjust the missions as we all see fit.
One more thing, this group would be social in nature i.e. not a place for people to pull rank/belittle or whatever. Its a means for self improvement, nurturing of curiousity, networking, and having fun at the same time!! Expertise at any level should be and will be respected to the fullest extent!
To ensure the group is professionally benefical, I think it would be important to limit membership to those who are in:
Medical Communications
Pharmaceutical Industry Consultants-strategy/pricing/contract
Biotech Ventures (university spin-offs/investing)
Pharma/Biotech Patent Law
Government Health Policy
Biotech Finance/Hedgefunds
CRO
Abt me: I work for a Medical Communications firm here in NYC. The firm has major big pharma clients who we do promotional CME and non-CME work for. I am part of their Medical Affairs group. Part of my job includes keeping up on the on goings in the pharma-industry (competitors, new FDA approved drugs, new indications, adverse events, messaging, etc.).
Look forward to hearing from you!!! If I get enough responses we should proceed to organize a meeting.
All the best.
Carl
