Hi there,
I'm in Allston. Looks like someone has started up a Boston Lunch Club and the first event will be on March 5 at Joe's American Bar on Newbury. Hopefully you can make it!

I am also new to The Lunch Club community and tomorrow night is not good for me either for the Boston get-together!
But I do look forward to the next event!

Hi,
I joined today after I read the Globe article and it seemed like a fun place to meet new people. But unfortunately I'm unable to make Thursday's event. I saw another response on hear that was looking for some ideas for additional events...I think it would be nice to plan a few events so we could have them on our calendar. I'll get back to this when I can think of a few different ideas!

Ditto most everyone else. I'm excited about this idea, but can't make it tomorrow night. So, I guess we'll all see each other at some point in the future!

I am interested in helping organize this. Maybe a few of us should meet up tonight for a few drinks after work and plan this event.
Let me know if anybody is interested in figuring this out after work over a few drinks.

Here ye! Here Ye!
Rebecca and I will be scouting possible locations for the games the week after Easter. So, if you'd like to join us for some bar hopping adventures, just hollah!
We're thinking Canal Street.
Let the games begin!

Who needs Game Night when there are free wine tastings to attend?
Seriously, shall we try to get a date set for the recon re: suitable venues for Game Night? "After Easter" seems a tad vague, so I'll jump in with some comments and suggestions.
The Monday after Easter is probably out, as this is Patriot's Day and the city will be overrun (no pun intended) with tired runners. The balance of the week, the Red Sox are at home, so I can meet up on Canal Street with any interested parties at any time, but will have to be "Cinderella" at the North Station T by no later than 6:30, as I have tickets to the Red Sox games.
I don't know what everyone else's availability is like, but could a sub-set agree to meet up at the Grand Canal (at the non-North Station end of Canal) around 5:00 or so, and then we can work out way down the street towards North Station. As the group moves down the street, those who are more gainfully employed (and therefore less likely to be available at 5:00!) can join the search party at whatever venue we've made it to. If I have to bail before a verdict is reached on the most appropriate venue, I am sure the rest of you can reach a suitable (if mildly lubricated) decision in my absence.
As pointed out previously, the myriad possibilities along Canal Street are more likely to be receptive when there are no events going on at the Garden. As the Bruins have managed to be eliminated from the post-season before it begins, we will find no competition from the die hard Black and Gold fans. The Celtics do have two home games during the week after Easter (on Monday 4/17 and Wednesday 4/19), so I'd suggest we aim for Tuesday, April 18 or Thursday, April 20. I will be out of town beginning on Friday, April 21 until Sunday, April 30. I have no objection if you all pursue this without me, I just wanted to give you a heads up on my schedule.
Sorry for the long winded post, but I'm old fashioned and haven't yet gotten the hang of speaking and writing in bullets!
Cheers, Rebecca

Tuesday the 17th after 5:00 works for me. Grand Canal, you say?
Bravo Rebecca! You've obviously put alot of thought into this. Without your keen insight into the world of sports, we may have been on the precipice of defeat.
Thanks for the info on the wine tasting, Jason.

A mixed message in your response. Monday is actually the 17th and Tuesday is the 18th. Given that Monday is Patriot's Day (Marathon Day) I would urge you to consider Tuesday (the 18th), if at all possible. If that works, I'll meet you (and whomever else wishes to tag along) at the Grand Canal at 5:00.
Cheers, Rebecca

I'm no Steve McGarrett, but if you watched Hawaii 5-0, which aired from the late 60s to the 80s, my best guess would be early 40s.

This may be my last hope. I hope to end the rumor that people in Boston aren't friendly. I'm 33 from Newton and looking for anyone who might want to hoist a few cold ones after work in the Downtown Crossing area. Anyways, feel free to let me know. -Neil
Thanks for the info! Not sure I'll make it this time. But at least now I know where it is.

Thanks Rebecca. I appreciate the information. Not sure I'll make that event this time. At least next time I'll know where to find it.

Who told you that people in Boston aren't friendly?! Scandalous lies!!
I'm sure we can rally a few folks together for this purpose. . .

Hi Folks: A Lot of you seem interested in helping to get The Lunch Club off to a good start here in Boston---well, here's one easy way to help :-)---If you haven't already, please sign up for Speed Friending next Thurs, and tell everyone else you know to as well......
FOX news and 90.9 FM WBUR radio will be covering it, and the publicity will really help to bring other cool people into the club for you to mingle with.
Plus it's FREE, and will be a lot of fun!
I would also appreciate help with planning future events---private message me if interested
With a little teamwork, we can make the Boston Chapter just as great as NY! :-)
Speed Friending: Thurs 4/27 7:00 @ Charley's Eating and Drinking Saloon (Back Bay) (http://www.thelunchclub.net/clubhouse/lc_event_detail.php?mode=detail&id=649)
Thanks a bunch!
