So, who's into snowboarding/skiing here? :)
So I'll be honest, I just started this season, because my boyfriend is avid.
I love it. The first time I went to Hunter it was ultra icy and I bruised my tailbone, and I loved every freaking second.
I went to Killington over President's Day weekend, and honestly, it was the most fun I've had in a long time. I took some serious spills, a few face plants...but it barely slowed me down. I'm looking into buying my own board, so anything you can recommend would be appreciated.
I like the step in bindings, and I know I used a 146 board the last time I went. Of course, for a first board I'm looking for somthing to beat up and alst a few seasons versus an investment. So I need a good starter board.
It's cool to know some other snowboarders here. I think Killington has the best slopes in the East Coast...but, it's kinda hard to go up there if you have a busy schedule. I've been to the other two places in Vermont this season, they were fun. For a one day trip, Hunter is pretty, and Mt. Creek is not that bad...even though it gets crowded during the weekends.
Lisa, if you want to get your own board, I think it's good time to start looking now. Usually, you can get a bargain now or toward the end of the season (not necessary in the summer). I personally don't like the step-in ones because you can't really have a good feel or control...I know those rentals usually have the step-ins...so, I sugest you to try the standard ones (with the straps).
Actually, I'm a starter myself too...just for receational... :)

mad cause i haven't had the time to take advantage of this season yet...and now it's almost over.
Hunter is fun... Killington is great, especially when you have a few days.
The strap bindings, in my opinion, suck... especially on the rentals, and especially when you're not used to em. Strapping/unstrapping your right foot (or left foot) when you get to the bottom of the mountian sucks. The step-ins are just so much easier, ESPECIALLY when your hands are frozen.
The heat pads are my best friends up there :D
Granted, the strap bindings do make me feel more secure--don't know why.
Princeton ski shop is having a big end of season sale now, check it out: http://www.princetonski.com/
